Our second Fall session began on Monday, October 24 and runs through Saturday, December 17.
ALL Park District classes are held in the Body/Mind Studio of Dole Center at 255 Augusta in Oak Park.
**NOTE: Beginning in January 2012 all of these classes will be offered at our new teaching space: 7405 Madison Street, 2nd Floor, Forest Park. Tom and Susan will NOT be teaching at Dole Center for the OPPD after this session ends in December 2011.** Check this website in December for a complete Forest Park class schedule for January 2012.
Here’s the schedule for Fall Into Winter (Session 2) 2011:
Absolute Beginner’s Monday . 6:00 – 7:15 pm NO Class this session ~ Look for our new schedule at our Forest Park location beginning in January 2012!
Wednesday . 7:30 – 8:45 pm NO Class this session ~ Look for our new schedule at our Forest Park location beginning in January 2012!
This is where you should be if you have NEVER taken a yoga class! Each class will begin with a slow warm-up and gentle stretching. We emphasize proper breathing and coordinating breath with movement. We'll learn a variety of lying mat poses and simple standing poses. Portions of our routine are repeated from week to week, giving you the opportunity to relax into movements while you are becoming more proficient with them.
You may ABSOLUTELY take this class for as many sessions as you like! I encourage it! Become familiar with an accessible routine and watch your progress as you return to the same movements again and again -- until you are ABSOLUTELY at home with them. Start your yoga practice on the right foot -- get grounded in the basics.
This class is also appropriate for those preferring a less vigorous, less physically demanding style.
Beginning/Continuing Monday . 7:30 – 8:45 pm Oct 24 - Dec 12 ~ 7 weeks (No Class 11/21)
Thursday . 6:00 – 7:15 pm Oct 27 - Dec 15 ~ 7 weeks (No Class 11/24)
Saturday . 7:30 – 8:45 pm Oct 29 - Dec 17 ~ 7 weeks (No Class 11/26)
Beginning/Continuing Students: Yes! Tom is back and teaching all three of these classes from October through December.
These classes are designed for those students who have begun their exploration of yoga and would like to learn more challenging poses. Please join us IF you have learned proper breathing techniques which encourage your muscles to lengthen and allow your body to relax into postures. In these classes we cover more complicated mat poses, abdominal and core training, and basic standing postures. As various poses are mastered (according to YOUR individual ability), you will grow in awareness OF your body, in appreciation FOR your body, and in comfortableness IN your body. This, in turn, results in a more centered and calm state of consciousness.
Remember: You can make up a missed class by attending any other class at any time during the same session.
So if you go out of town for a week, take two classes the week you come back for no extra charge!
